Did you know a quarter minted in 2015 for the Kisatchie National Forest which is spread across 7 parishes in Louisiana has the wild turkey in flight on the back of the quarter ? If you haven't seen one of these it's so neat.

guesswho

Yep.  I have one out back and I saw one in my change today.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

I just took about 40 of them to a place locally 'Bullet Designs" to have some special jewelry made for our NWTF Banquet in August, it was taken of an actual photograph made in Kisatchie NF of a flying turkey, pretty neat, no other state has a turkey on their quarter, much less a flying one except Louisiana  :happy0064: :happy0064: :happy0064: :happy0064:

A Print that will truly last
Matt Lindler a friend and also the editor for the NWTF's National Magazines Turkey Country and Jakes Country. Matt is also the director of Photography as well. As a photographer Matt has had something pretty amazing happen involving one of his wild turkey photos! Matt Lindler as quoted states:

" I have to say, this is one of the coolest things that has happened to me professionally. A photo I took of a flying wild turkey tom was used by a U.S. Mint master artist to design the new Kisatchie National Forest, LA, quarter in the America the Beautiful series. They'll be released later this month. It's neat to think an image I took (rendered, of course) will circulate around the globe for decades."

Now what I think is pretty cool is when I get my hands on some of those U.S. Minted quarters I can say; HEY!! I know that guy who took that photo for that quarter! I am going to start looking to get my hands on some of them! Reports are already out that they and in circulation!

Thanks,
Clark

Hold on to those.  In a few years they will probably worth up to 25¢ each! ;D
Did I do that?

It has nothing to do with what they are worth it's the story of why the turkey is on the coin. I collecting them also. It's just like why do you collect turkey calls or anything else..

Sorry I could not help myself...  I will almost certainly get some to carry in my pocket for luck next season...  And of course the kids will want one...

But me being me, I cannot resist a good opportunity at a bit of sarcasm....

Very cool coin:

Couldn't decide which spot to hunt one morning, buddy tossed me a quarter, landed on tails.

First one I had seen, or noticed anyway. We did call one in that morning along with 5 jakes...no shot.

Been in my wallet since
