I have a Benelli SBE II and want to know what the  big fuss is over the 336 mount over a mount already made for the SBE such as Warne or Weaver?
Gonna put optics on my gun and just want to understand things a little better.
Thanks ~ ???

Sits much lower and the Burris will mount directly to it rather then an added mount which raises the sight higher

It sits lower on the receiver.  It's actually a nice set-up.  It works perfectly on mossbergs without modification.  Others need either re-drilled and tapped or a combo of both.   I have one on my 835 and really wish there was a version for my 870.

I have a SBE 1 that I sent to Rob Roberts for drill/tap for the 336, and a SBE 2 that could not be drilled because of the new Cryo receiver, so I went with the Warne base. Both guns are steady grip models. I do prefer the 336 mount, but mainly for looks. The Warne mounted FF3 does sit a little higher but not uncomfortably higher. I added God A Grip shotgun wedges to both and they are very comfortable set up that way. I do not understand why Burris has not jumped on building a 336 type base to fit the Benelli's, Remingtons, ETC. They would sale a bunch I am sure!

Why wouldn't the Weaver 93A for the SBE II do the same thing as the 336 base?

Because you will need the picatinny mount under the sight. With the 336 base it will sit lower on receiver and the FF will mount directly to the mount/base without the need of another piece. Like I said above, it will not be to high, just the 336 is a lower mounting option.

The 93A looks like it is just as low as a 336 and a FF III should mount on it if it will mount on a 336 base.

It is not as low. I have one.

I used the Weaver 48346 two piece base.  Only use one and it is the perfect size for the Fastfire.

the 870 receiver doesn't need any changed to fit a marlin 336 mount. other than drilling and tapping it if its not a model that has that done. it fits perfectly to the contour of the gun. as far as a fuss. there is no fuss. its freaking awesome. cuts the height in 1/2 vs having to use a base like a weaver or picatinny and and a mount for the sight its self to hold on to the base. I got all my info about the burris and the 336 from this forum and put it on an 870 and never looked back. its one of the best things I ever did to my turkey gun. as far as a 336 fitting an benelli gun. I don't see how, maybe some older models but I know they will not fit the new novas and super novas.

where are yall placing the 336 mount on the receivers? i already have a FF2 W/ protector that i am considering moving to my new 870 youth 20 gauge build.

Ridge Rooster

Towards the very rear of the receiver. You want it as close to your eye as possible and still have the mount on the flat at the top back of the receiver.

Got it.  Thanks ridge! Gonna wait and see how those sumtoy mounts look and potentially get my receiver drilled to match
