After reading alot about these little 20's, I thought I would set one up. I found a nice older youth 870, looked new, excellent condition. I am putting a new stock and forearm on it, set of Truglo fiber optics, polished barrel and an SSX choke tube. I have the sights, choke tube and barrel polished, but waiting on other stuff to be delivered later this week. The first 3 pics are from 40 yards with 3 different brands of ammo. The last pic is from 20 yards. Let me know what you think, started with clean barrel and bore snaked between shots. Partly sunny, 77 degrees and no wind. The Federal Heavyweight 7's had the best numbers at 40 ranging from mid 140's to mid 160's in 10" circle. The Hevi 7's barely broke 100 and the 3rd degrees were below that. I shot 3 shells from each brand.

Those HW7's are hard to beat!  I am curious what the 3rd degree pattern would look like on a bigger sheet of paper.  It looks like part of the core pattern is off the paper.

My 870 loves the HW7s also.  Just have to be careful with them if you get the bird under 20 yard, that pattern gets real small fast.

I think your on the right path.  Have fun.

Never considered a 20 because of the limited choices for ammunition but with the picture you provided has given me food for thought
