It's finally here, headed to the SC Coast at lunch today!  Hope to get there before sundown to locate some birds tonight for the morning.  I only get 4 days to hunt in SC so I hope to connect at least once.  Not sure about the AM thunderstorm forecast, but it takes a hurricane to keep me out of the woods.  Last year I saw 4 jakes and 7 Toms and was told that there is a large flock with 7 Toms together this year so I was pretty pumped to hear that.  I also saw a photo of a 6' rattler that was killed there too....

The rattler is no good! I hate snakes! Good luck. I'm jealous, public land in SC starts in 8 days and I will be out there fr sure. Hope to see some pics from you.

Just took this picture after dropping the kids off at school. Nice longbeard that was gobbling his head off.

Just rolled in and drove the property loop. 3 separate gobblers and about 20 hens in 3 flocks.  Should be interesting...

WNCTracker

Oh the shame. I shot a tree branch. A freaking tree ranch. 7 gobblers there flew right to me accross a field at sunup. And they all got away. Then 2 hrs later  I had 5 writhin 70 yards with 2 hens. I Called the 2 hens right to me of course but the toms wouldn't come. They left.  Dang.

wmn2

Better luck next time! It wouldn't be as fun if you got them all!

It happens. Keep at them

Bummer man, but keep at it. Sounds like you have found some birds!

Today was even worse. Started with Jake that came right in yelping, not gobbling. Stopped at 50 ad walked away. Then I called 5 gobblers to 100 yards, 2 hens came in but gobblers went the other way. Then My  sling broke gun fell. muzzle plugged with mud. I had to remove barrel and use a stick to unclog it. Setup on 3 different birds.  I called one to 35 yards shot and it ran away. What the heck. I have no confidence in my gun since I polished the barrel and the pattern went to crap. I shouldn't have messed with it. I'm using the crossbow tonight.  At least I'm seeing lots of birds!
