Good numbers for a 20 gauge with #6 Hevi13 and #7 Federal Heavy Weight?

Can someone tell me what my goal should be for these two loads at 40yds and in a 10 inch circle?  Best i'm getting now is 120-130 with Hevi13 #6 using a carlson .575 tube.  So far the Federal HW #7 are too patchy for me.

My remington 870 puts up 150 numbers with the H13 7s.

Now the Federal is a different story. Some guys are getting off the chart numbers. But for me out of the Remington when CLEAN, my sumtoy will put up 125s, the truglo will put up 140s, and the indian creek puts up 150s. Now these are averages for these chokes with all shots...Ive gotten a 178 high and an 89 low when dirty.


My weatherby 20 with the Federal 7s and sumtoy puts up 140  average numbers clean. Havent shot the hevis. This choke is built just for the federals.

I'm seeing the same issue with the Federals.  Seems their less consistent and alot more patchy than the Hevi 13's but may just be my choke.  Trying to determine which chokes are good for the Federal HW's

You can't be using a .675 tube in a 20 gauge . If you are then that is one problem.

The best patterns I have seen are with tighter chokes.  If I would go away from TSS I'd go with a TruGlo SSX .550 and the HW 7's.  Also have seen the longer barrels handle more open chokes and shorter like tighter.  Lots of info on this relationship on here.  That is for the Remington, but since the 20 barrel diameter is consistent from manufacturer to manufacturer.  Ultimately you'll have to get whatever choke you want to try and shoot both loads and see what you like.

You can't be using a .675 tube in a 20 gauge . If you are then that is one problem.

Ok so that's my 2nd typo tonight so I'm going to bed.      It's actually a .575 tube.

I have shot 2 different remington 870 with 26" barrels and used the Sumtoy 562-5, the RSF, and the Truglo SSX.  The Remington SF and the Truglo SSX produced consistent 3 shot average of 161 with Federal Heavyweight 7s.  I had one HW7 that barely put 80 shot in the paper....i found the wad cut in half about 20 yards downrange.  All 4 of those shots just mentioned were from Lot # ending in 498.  Hope this helps.

I'm getting reports from shooters all over the U.S. who are getting consistent 150s and 160s with the SSX 20 Gauge and the Federal Heavyweight shot shells. That has been with the Rem-Choke version and now that I have the Win-Choke SSX 20s, I expect to see the sames kinds of numbers with them.
