I just purchased a Benelli Montefeltro Compact (24" barrel, Short LOP) that has the Benelli Crio+ choke system. Basically identical to the M2 20ga. I will be shooting Apex 3" 1-5/8oz #9s through it, and running a FF3 on a Sumtoy mount.

I am looking for a choke that will give me an evenly distributed pattern at 40 yards, around 250/250 distribution. Want to avoid a super hot core, and rather have a more forgiving pattern.

For those of you with experience with the M2/Montefeltro 20ga, and have put this load on paper, what do you recommend?

I would start with the 570 or 575 I seen some 580 do very good also.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

Guskie

Try your factory full choke. That's what I used in my 24" M2.

Ridge Rooster

I have gotten 250/250 patterns with the Carlson .575 in several 20 gauges of different makes most recently with a Stoeger M3020 but I have never tried it in a Benelli. I usually run that choke when I hunt with a gun that has Iron Sights. I usually go a little tighter with a Red Dot.

575 Carlsons seems very popular across the board. Unfortunately Carlsons doesn't make one for Crio +. They make 555, 565 and 580. Trulock doesn't make a 575 either.

Might need to try a 580 carlsons or 570 trulock.

I have a .575 Trulock for my 20g. Franchi/Benelli (mobil choke). Carlson will make a Crio choke for you if you call them. Trulock probably will too.
