Man i'm jealous! That is a very nice sp10, and as deadbuck said, you stole it lol! I am going to
have a auto 10 someday, when the right gun and deal comes along. Congrats H.B.K.!

RED NECK

Ya, I am happy and excited that I found one, and I knew it was a great price. It will be hunted with a bit this year, as long as it patterns well to 40 yards with what I have in ammo and chokes. I'll find out Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing how it shoots.

I just bought a Remington Full-Extra turkey choke flush, from a local buy/sell gun site, I should have it in 3-4 days depending on shipping. I assume It was the turkey choke that came with the sp-10 turkey model, 23" ?

I owned a 26 barrel at one time ...I believe it measured out at 25 inches

I couldn't see a noticeable patterning difference between it and the 23 so I sold it off ...

It is admittedly ... a very heavy shotgun it takes some getting used to , I've hunted my sp10 exclusively for 28 seasons now , when it's set up right ...and that can be sometimes a difficult task ...it has phenomenal killing power

I've had my mishaps with bad shots but that's due to my choke threaded improperly installed from the factory

I'm about to take the heavy scope off and go to a fast fire to lighten it up a little

Trulock has .680 or .700 in ported or non ported, I have a handful of these chokes and like his chokes. I just want to buy the diameter that won't blow the patterns with lead, 4-5's.

I did a comparison of the Trulock .680 and .700 a few years ago with #7.5 TSS. I posted the results here:

I patterned both 10's yesterday, with the 4 types of ammo and the full chokes they came with,I kept all the targets, not sure If ill get time to post until mid week but I was surprised at how well most shot,I shot at 20,40 and then a little at 50 yards. I am just heading to buy up rest of 10 gauge turkey shells from shop. Then time to get ready for opener tomorrow. I did find the bps 10 held a bit tighter pattern than sp10 with factort full chokes, with all shells. Im confident with both in woods. Ill be testing other chokes as they arrive.

Thanks for re-posting your test. I missed it the first time. I have that Trulock .700" also for my Rem choke barrel. The choke I'm constantly threatening to buy is the Patternmaster Code Black Turkey .695" to test. I'm really curious about it's performance with #4 & #5 lead loads.

I hunting with the std. Invector full choke in my BPS for years and killed six gobblers with it. I then bought a factory Browning (said made by Briley on the package) X-tra full/trap flush tube. It measured .734" vs. the .739" of the stock full tube. It made no difference in patterns and that's when I started trying extended turkey chokes years ago. Waiting for your results.

RED NECK

I had a few minutes yesterday in between hunting to go and shoot the sp-10 with the extra full turkey flush choke I bought and It shot better with both winchester 5's and was outstanding with Federal Grand slam 4's, I didnt keep target or a picture,as I was just quickly trying to see if it would shoot better than the full, and It did, I only fired those 2 types of shells.. I was surprised at how well it shot the grand slams, out to 40,well....maybe a tad more too but..., I then carried it the rest of the day and did a lot of walking, came close on a few birds but no shots. The gun is heavy, but the sling I put on it makes a difference. I am hoping my comp n chokes arrive shortly. I have made a decision to only carry the 2 10's and 2 of my 12's this year, I am gonna rest the 20's until maybe the last week.

Ive carried the 10's on a few hunts each, not a lot,I just have not been out as much this year as the past few, work commitments, but I have shot the .705 and patterned with the gs #4's, I was more than happy with pattern and didn't shoot any other shells, I will after season but I am off tomorrow and I plan on taking the sp-10 in the morning, and then we will go from there as I'll be stopping at home to eat, and then head up top other area if no luck first thing, maybe I'll grab the bps 10. I sure would love to put a longbeard down with a 10 gauge, still have a tag left and until May 31st at 7pm.
