I was looking at the turkey gun. Having a 22 inch barrel. How does it pattern? I also like the tristar 20ga.

I have a SA-20 it patterns well with 7.5 TSS handloads and an HS strut undertaker choke it's a .582 I believe

Let ya know soon as I get mine back from being dipped.

I have the SA 20 Turkey thug, they took the thug out of the name .  I have killed more Gobblers with it than any 20 gauge I have , It killed one this past weekend right around 40 yards . I shoot a Carlson 575 non ported turkey choke and Federal TSS #9. The gun will flat out pattern great! I had a Tri Star Raptor and sold it, I simply have too many turkey guns.  The gun shot  great also but I like the Mossberg better because it is lighter and had the 22 inch barrel, which I really like it's so easy to carry and maneuver in a set up. If your worried about that barrel patterning well don't think another thing about it. You would be pleased with what it does. I started out with Federal HVW #7 and it was also a killer with that also . Great 40 yard patterns, I will not shoot past that.

I sure like the looks of the mossberg SA 20. I have a new tristar g2 viper 28ga. I am getting away from the Remington sp 10ga.  The mossberg would be so much liter to carry.  I seen they have a 2 oz load in 20ga tss loads now. I think it would kind kick in a light gun. I do like the short barrel. I will a reflex dot on it and leave it. I bought 28ga just for squirrel hunting.  I bought a mec 600 jr mark 5 28ga reloader.  So I could shoot it more. Now just need one for 20ga.

All of these "SA" guns are imported from the same factory in Turkey under a variety of names.  Mosserberg SA, Weatherby SA (no longer made)  Tristar Viper, Escort, and many other names. All the guns are virtually the same internally. I have had 5 or 6 of them.
The Mossberg SA-20 Turkey is awesome - cheap, very lightweight, drilled & tapped. If you prefer a pistol grip stock - get the Tristar Viper turkey.
As for chokes and loads -  skip all the BS testing, save your money and go straight to TSS #9 with a Carlson .575 non-ported as stated above. If you are obsessed with getting the most hits in a 10" circle - get the Sumtoy choke.  But for "real world" hunting, the Carlson is about perfect.

Thanks I just bought 2 carlson tss choke for my 410.
Mossberg 500 410 tss turkey gun.
Mossberg SA 410 turkey gun. I was going to order a carlson tss for my 28ga to have. I will get one for the 20ga. I have fount my wife a browning bps micro youth 20ga. Carlson was the first choke I was going to it for it. The SA 20ga turkey gun comes with a rail on top doest it?

Turkeyfever

Yes , the SA 20 Turkey gun is drilled and tapped and mine came with the rail. I have a swampfox kingslayer on mine.

I also have the Mossberg SA20, 22 inch barrel. I agree Federal TSS 9's and carlsons .565 or .575 it's the perfect hunting setup!

I bought a Carlson heavy weight tss choke. I also bought a longbeard xr choke. I seen a pattern test shooting a jebs .565 choke. The pattern so tight at 40 yds. My wife bought her a tristar raptor youth 20ga
It has a 24 inch barrel 20ga.  She has a longbeard xr choke in her gun. Now finding ammo  is the hard part. Going to try to find some federal 9 shot or apex 9.5 loads.

I have the Turkey model and used it the last couple of weeks of the N.C . season. It patterns well with a Trulock Pinhoti .585 and Apex Ninja's also did well with Federal TSS 9's good hunting patterns . Recoil is almost nonexistent which is surprising for such a lightweight gun. I did put a McCarbo trigger spring in it when I got it  , the trigger was really heavy 6lbs + when I got it . It's better now but still not a great pull . The trigger is the thing I wish was better. Slapped a Sumtoy mount and a FF3 on it also .

Can you buy a pistol grip stock for the SA-20?  I figured you could buy the SA-20 tactical pistol grip stock and put it on the SA-20 turkey.  I may have figured wrong because I haven't found on yet.

Hi I been wondering what it would cost to have mine dipped and 2 turkey chokes? I would like to have it done in bottomland or green leaf camo.

Happy

Mine is getting dipped in green leaf. Think it was $180.00

I contacted Mossberg and they don't sell pistol grip stocks individually.  You have to buy the model it comes on.
